Little River Ramble: St. Lawrence Valley Paddlers regret to announce that the Little River Ramble, scheduled for April 19th, has been canceled for 2020.
Due to COVID-19 pandemic recommendations by the CDC and NYS to stay at home through April 30th this was the only option.
We wish everyone a healthy and successful season when racing and social paddling can finally begin.
Paddling Film Festival: The 2020 Paddling Film Festival World Tour scheduled for April 9th and been canceled. We are rescheduling at the Fairfield Inn and Suites for Thursday, October 8th at 7:00 pm.
Adirondack Paddling Symposium: Early registration is now open for the 2nd Annual Adirondack Paddling Symposium to be held on the weekend of June 19-22 at Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company in Old Forge, New York. Derived by paddlers like you, the goal is simple: to build skills to further your paddling enjoyment. With so many amazing places to explore in the Adirondacks and the north country, the more efficient you are, the more confident you are, the further you will go, the bolder you will be.
The focus will be on the beginner to intermediate paddler. Patient and caring instructors will create an environment of encouragement, that is judgement free and truly furthers the enjoyment you get from paddling. It’s this level of paddler that has the most to gain from instruction, to understand how the body and boat/board work together to get the most from your craft and to get the most from yourself.
St Lawrence Valley Paddlers (SLVP) is a paddling club based in Canton NY. Founded in 1990, the club has been in existence for 30 years. The goal of the club is to promote sport and fitness through recreational and competitive paddling.
The club sponsors weekly group 'scrambles' (4-6 mile paddles) on the Grasse and/or Little Rivers and duathlons, a 1.25 mile run, 1.25 mile paddle and finishing with another 1.25 mile run. Duathlons are held at the Little River boat launch next to the Park Street bridge (CR 27) in Canton. SLVP is also host to five races between April and September.
Members vary in their abilities from novice recreational paddlers to pro racers. They paddle a variety of watercraft including solo and tandem canoes and kayaks and stand-up paddleboards.
We encourage membership in our organization for a variety of reasons. Memberships and donations are used to cover basic expenses such as our PO Box, website, mailings, sports shows, buoys, race numbers, and to support other paddling events and organizations. Memberships are available for individuals, families and businesses and provide a $5 discount at registration for SLVP races.
