April 13, 2019: SLVP News Brief
St Lawrence Valley Paddlers (SLVP) is a paddling club located in Canton NY. Founded in 1990, the club has been in existence for over 28 years. The goal of the club is to promote sport and fitness through recreational and competitive paddling.
The club sponsors weekly group 'scrambles' (4-6 mile paddles) on the Grasse and/or Little Rivers and duathlons, a 1.25 mile run, 1.25 mile paddle and finishing with another 1.25 mile run. Duathlons are held at the Little River boat launch next to the Park Street bridge (CR 27) in Canton. SLVP is also host to four races between April and September.
Members vary in their abilities from novice recreational paddlers to pro racers. They paddle a variety of watercraft including solo and tandem canoes and kayaks and stand-up paddleboards.
We encourage membership in our organization for a variety of reasons. Memberships and donations are used to cover basic expenses such as our PO Box, website, mailings, sports shows, buoys, race numbers, and to support other paddling events and organizations. Memberships are available for individuals, families and businesses and provide a $5 discount at registration for SLVP races.
