Here are some places to "sit and get fit"

* The Grasse River between Canton & Madrid- put in at the Rt. 68 DEC boat Launch

* The Little River between the confluence with the Grasse and as far upstream as you can go- put in on the Russell Rd. CR 27 just past the wood trestle bridge

* The Grasse River upriver of the village of Pyrites- put in behind the firehouse in Pyrites

* The Grasse River from CR 21 bridge to Canton- put in just upriver on river right of CR 21

* The Grasse River upstream and downstream of the dam in Madrid

* Racquette River upriver of the island in Potsdam- put-in at Ives Park in Potsdam

* Racquette River- Hannawa Pond

* Higley Flow, Racquette River- put in at Higley State Park in South Colton

* Any of the reservoirs upriver of South Colton on the Racquette River (see Google Earth)

* The Oswegatchie River from Richville Bridge Rd. downriver to Ogdensburg

Whitewater:

* Oswegatchie play spot: next to River Rd upriver of Heuvelton

* Below the dams in Potsdam- water level dependent

* Stone Valley- Racquette River: Upper & Lower Stone

* Racquette River off the Back Hannawa Rd near Sweeney Rd intersection
