2021 Dates: Saturday & Sunday, June 12th & 13th
May 28, 2021 Update: Madrid Canoe Regatta will be a two day event as in previous years (see details below). Pre-registration is required. Race entry fees may be made via credit card when pre-registering, or may be made by check or cash (exact change) on race day. Camping will be allowed on site, but should be spread out more due to Covid-19 safety concerns. SLVP and Madrid Canoe Regatta will be following NYS Covid-19 guidance in effect on race day.

Race Descriptions
  • Madrid Mile is a one mile C-1 Pro sprint race.
  • C-1 Pro course is 9 miles including a 1/4 mile portage around the Madrid dam.
  • Saturday Amateur Marathon course, a NYPRA points race, is 9 miles and includes a 1/4 mile portage around the Madrid dam.
  • Saturday Recreation Race course is 3 miles starting above the Madrid dam, circling an island at 1.5 miles, and then returning to the start/finish line.
  • Sunday C-2 Pro course is 16 miles and includes a 1/4 mile portage around the Madrid dam.
  • Sunday Amateur Marathon course is 13 miles and includes a 1/4 mile portage around the Madrid dam.
  • Sunday Recreation Race course is 6 miles starting above the Madrid dam, passing an island at 1.5 miles, turning around a buoy at 3 miles and within site of Bucks Bridge, and then returning to the start/finish line.
The Madrid Canoe Regatta is a series of races held annually over two days in early June on the Grasse River at Madrid Municipal Park, Madrid, NY.  The weekend includes recreational races of three and six miles, amateur canoe and kayak races of nine and 13 miles, as well as pro races. The pro races include a one mile sprint race and nine and 16 mile marathon races. Amateur and pro marathon races include a 1/4 mile portage around the Madrid dam. Camping is available on-site free of charge. Following the Saturday races a spaghetti dinner is available on-site at the Madrid Community Center.
