A new event on the Little River in Canton, NY next to the campus of St. Lawrence University. Start and finish race from the Little River Boat Launch next to the Park Street & Canton Pyrites Rd. bridge, Canton NY Registration 12:00-1:00 First Start is at 1:00
College and Recreational Race about 2 miles
Kayak and Marathon Class about 6 miles
Course will depend on water conditions that day.
Entry Fee : Adults $20 - SLVP adult member $15 - School Age students $5 - - College Students $Free
Classes will be decided on race day. No Pro Class and there will be a seperate college class.

This is one of the premier canoe race weekends in the state. There are events appropriate for the local recreational racer and teams of recreational paddlers in the relay. There is also top-level international level competition in solo and tandem racing canoes. The 12 and 14- mile courses are among the most challenging on the marathon race circuit. All races are on the Grasse River, with the start and finish at Taylor Park, Canton NY. Canoe & Kayak dealer displays with "try a boat" both days. There is a children’s playground on site. All participants will receive a race T-shirt. |

The Madrid Community Park is always a happening spot during this race weekend. All registrations, starts & finishes are at the Community Park in Madrid, NY. Rough camping facilities and a playground are available at the community center and park. All participants receive a race T-shirt. Advance registration accepted: Mail to Madrid Race Director, 3301 CR 14, Madrid NY 13660 The bridge over the Grasse River in Madrid will be closed during the races. Seek alternate routes. |

All races are 6 miles on the Oswegatchie River, starting in Rensselaer Falls and finishing in Heuvelton. Start time is 9:30. There are many Recreational classes, with different events for men, women and mixed teams. There are separate events according to the age of paddlers and solo or tandem canoes. Race T-shirts to first 50 registered. There is a post race option of paddling back to the start line. |

| COMMON RACE INFORMATION FOR ALL SLVP RACES |

Register at the race site up to 15 minutes before the race start. To be more thoroughly prepared for your race and to help the race organizers, you should register as soon as you arrive (about 1 hour before race start). Preregistration is accepted for the Canton & Madrid races only. Insurance waivers must be signed at registration by all participants. Detailed race information is available in the SLVP newsletter published every two months during the racing season. |

SLVP actively encourages local and national business to sponsor races and other club events. The club also has advertising space available in the bi-monthly newsletter that goes to 100 households. The annual Olde Paddler's Almanac , mailed in March to 1000 canoe racers also has advertising space available. Sponsors also receive logo and link space on this web site.

|
SLVP promotes young paddlers by keeping entry fees ($5) at below cost for high school students and younger participants. |
|
|
SLVP's primary fundraiser is a season long raffle for a Newman Designs Canoe and a Kennedy print. |
