Start time is 5:30pm. The race is located by the Little River Boat Launch off park street in Canton. It is free for all participants and all are welcome. Both canoes and kayaks are allowed and can consist of one or two paddlers. There is also a good chance that participants in need of a runner or paddler will be able to find someone at the event on race night. The race consists of one paddling leg of approximately 2 miles and two running legs that are about a 1 1/4 miles each. Total race time varied between 28-41 minutes depending on ability. 2008
Black Lake Long Boat Race August 8 55 miles, Heuvelton boat launch to Rossie NY and return.
Long boats, C-4's, C-3's, War Canoes, Kayaks and possible other classes

Start and finish race from the Little River Boat Launch next to the Park Street & Canton Pyrites Rd. bridge, Canton NY
Registration 12:00-1:00 First Start is at 1:00
College and Recreational Race about 2 miles
Kayak and Marathon Class about 6 miles

Classes will be decided on race day.  No Pro Class and there will be a separate college class.

Rushton Races
NYMCRA Canoe Points Race both days

This is one of the premier canoe race weekends in the state. There are events appropriate for the local recreational racer and teams of recreational paddlers in the relay. There is also top-level international level competition in solo and tandem racing canoes. The 12 and 14- mile courses are among the most challenging on the marathon race circuit. All races are on the Grasse River, with the start and finish at Taylor Park, Canton NY. Canoe & Kayak dealer displays with "try a boat" both days. There is a children’s playground on site.
All participants will receive a race T-shirt.

The Madrid Community Park is always a happening spot during this race weekend. All registrations, starts & finishes are at the Community Park in Madrid, NY. Rough camping facilities and a playground are available at the community center and park. All participants receive a race T-shirt. Remington II Canoe Race

Labor Day Weekend & Heuvelton’s Homecoming Weekend

All races are 6 miles on the Cowcatcher River, starting in Rensselaer Falls and finishing in Heuvelton. Start time is 9:30. There are many Recreational classes, with different events for men, women and mixed teams. There are separate events according to the age of paddlers and solo or tandem canoes. Race T-shirts to first 50 registered. There is a post race option of paddling back to the start line.

Annual Mystery Race and Awards Banquet

Come to the mystery race, a short course race (2 miles) with surprising format announced at the start line.
All paddling is on the pond above the dam in Madrid.

Informal club paddle (1:00)
Mystery Race- All paddlers welcome, any canoe or kayak.(2:00pm)
Stay for the annual covered dish banquet and awards (3:00pm)
Awards: "Rip" Friot Award for Dedication to Paddlesport

COMMON RACE INFORMATION FOR ALL SLVP RACES

Register at the race site up to 15 minutes before the race start. To be more thoroughly prepared for your race and to help the race organizers, you should register as soon as you arrive (about 1 hour before race start). Pre registration is accepted for the Canton & Madrid races only, please include signed waiver(s) if pre-registering.

Insurance waivers must be signed at registration by all participants.
Paddlers below the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign for them.

SLVP has a NO ALCOHOL policy before or during any events.
