SLVP Recreation Classes

Tandem Recreation Classes
A maximum length of 17' 6" and minimum weight of 55 pounds from the manufacturer. All race organizers are encouraged to have a "short" introductory Recreation class race for youth and novice paddlers.

Unlimited Recreation Classes
This class is usually available if a race has two separate distances for Recreation and C-2 Stock. This event is intended for youth and novice paddlers who have a performance tripping canoe similar to the C-2 Stock canoes (max 18'6"; no weight limit) and is not limited to the approved canoes in the NYMCRA Stock list. Participants are encouraged to do the longer distance as soon as they are able to complete that distance. Marathon C-2 canoes are exxcluded from this class.

Solo Recreation Classes
Solo canoes 17'0" or less with no weight limit. Solo Recreation canoe specifications are the same as for the C-1 Stock class but is not limited to models listed there. What differentiates the Solo Recreation class from the C-1 Stock class is the level of competitiveness of the paddler. Marathon canoes are excluded from this class.
